Global Marine Systems – Shetland Islands – February 2019 to September 2019 – 3 Subsea to Land Cables
Correll Services was contracted by Global Marine Systems to complete cable jointing and testing works on the subsea and land cables between island’s in Shetland. The works included:
- Fabrication of project RAM’s
- Conducting project meetings
- Post load out testing,
- Time Domain Reflectometry (open & closed)
- Optical Time Domain Reflectometry (unidirectional)
- Setup of Fibre Optical monitoring system within the carousel
- Post Lay Testing
- Time Domain Reflectometry (open & closed)
- Optical Time Domain Reflectometry
- HV/FO Jointing subsea cables to onshore land cables
- Through Joints on the land cables
- Pole terminations
- Very Low Frequency testing
- Completion of ITP documentation for issue to the client
During back-filling activities, the civil contractor damaged a land cable, CS subsequently performed fault-finding procedures to successfully locate the damaged position, using the following items:
- Bridge tester (HVB10)
- Surge Tester (Thumper)
