The Correll Group is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract from Prysmian Group to provide the pull-in of two 225 kV HVAC export cables (each about 17.5 km in length), to the offshore substation platform for the Fécamp offshore wind farm. Scope of works also includes the termination and testing of 71 33kV array cables and two offshore substation interconnector cables.
Located approximately 13km to 22km off the coast of Fécamp in Seine-Maritime in the Normandy region of northwest France, the 497 MW offshore wind farm covers an area of around 60 square km in water depths of 30m.
Fécamp offshore wind farm will feature 71 Siemens Gamesa SWT-7.0-154 wind turbines with a unit capacity of 7 megawatts (MW) for a total capacity of 497 MW.
Scheduled to be fully operational by the end of 2023, the wind farm will generate the equivalent of the domestic electricity consumption of more than 770,000 people, more than 60% of the inhabitants of Seine- Maritime, while also offsetting two million tonnes of carbon dioxide.
Sam Dowey, Managing Director at Correll, commented; “We are delighted to have been awarded this contract with the Prysmian Group and we very much look forward to continuing to grow our partnership. This project will be completed using Correll’s cable pull-in and termination & testing team under our new bespoke turnkey solution”.
