13th October 2021: France: The Correll Group – Electrical Engineering Division has been awarded a contract by Prysmian Group for the pull-in of two 225 kV HVAC export cables (each about 33 km in length), to the offshore 480 MW substation platform for the Saint-Nazaire offshore wind farm.
Saint-Nazaire is located off the Guérande peninsula, between 12 and 20 kilometres off the Loire-Atlantique coast, at depths ranging from 12 to 25 metres, and deployed in an area of about 78 square km.
Also known as Parc du Banc de Guérande, the Saint-Nazaire wind farm will feature 80 GE Haliade 160-6MW offshore wind turbines with a unit capacity of 6 megawatts (MW) for a total capacity of 480 MW. The planned production is equivalent to covering the equivalent of 20% of the electricity consumption of the Loire-Atlantique.
Sam Dowey, Managing Director at Correll, commented; “We are delighted to have won our first export cable pull-in contract with the Prysmian Group and we very much look forward to growing our partnership with future collaborations. This project will be completed using Correll’s cable pull-in and termination & testing team under our new bespoke turnkey solution.
Once fully commissioned in 2022, Saint-Nazaire will become France’s first operating commercial offshore wind farm.
