Prysmian Powerlink – Courceulles-sur-Mer OWF – May 2023 to Present – 220kV Export Cable Pull, Termination and Testing (2 x Export Cables)

The Correll Group – Cable Installation & Power Services Division (CIPS) has been awarded a contract from Prysmian Group to provide support for the pull-in and installation of two 225 kV HVAC export cables (each about 17.5 km in length), to the offshore substation platform for the Courseulles-sur-Mer offshore wind farm.

The 448 MW Calvados offshore wind project is comprised of 64 GE Haliade 150-6MW series wind turbines located more than 10km from the Bessin coastline and occupies a total surface area of approximately 45km².

CIPS is responsible for:

  • Pre-project meetings
  • Creations of RAMS
  • Post Lay Testing (continuity, insulation resistance, Time Domain Reflectometry and Optical Time Domain Reflectometry)
  • On the offshore assets:
    • Cable pull of 2 x export cables.
    • Stripping the export cables to expose the HV cores and FO cable
    • Complete the permanent hang-off
    • Route the HV and FO cable into GIS and Fibre Enclosure
    • Cleat the HV cores from the hang-off to the GIS
    • Terminate and splice the FO cable into the cabinet
    • Terminate three power cores into the GIS
    • Complete post installation testing from the onshore substation to the offshore assets (IR, TDR & OTDR)
    • Deliver an Inspection and Test Plan for the installed and tested system, forming part of key payment milestone.
