Seaway 7 – Moray West OWF – March to October 2024 – Termination & Testing of 66kV inter-array cables
The Correll Group, Electrical Engineering Division (CEE) was awarded a contract from Seaway 7 to complete the 66kV inter-array cable termination on Moray West Offshore Wind Farm.
Moray West Offshore Wind Farm comprises 60 Wind Turbine Generators and 2 Offshore Substation Platforms (OSPs). Correll Group will be responsible for completing the terminations into the switchgear, installing the Pfisterer size 4 on the OSPs, and the termination and testing of the Fibre Optic cables.
Schedule of works:
- Pre-project meetings
- Weekly meetings
- Site visits
- Mock-up Trials
- Pre Project training
- Mobilisation of PPE, tools & test equipment via 20ft containers.
- Pre & Post Lay Testing (continuity, insulation resistance, Time Domain Reflectometry and Optical Time Domain Reflectometry)
- DAC testing (Damped AC testing)
- On the offshore assets:
- Tower mobilisation and preparation
- Stripping the array cables to expose HV cores and fibre optical cable
- Complete the permanent hang-off
- Route the HV and FO cables into the GBS
- Route the HV and FO cable into the OSP
- Cleat the HV cores from the hang off to the Connex Joints on OSP
- Cleat the HV cores from the hang off to the SGRE switchgear
- Terminate and splice the FO cable into the termination box
- Terminate Pfisterer size 4 power cores into the Connex Joints on OSP
- Complete post installation string testing on the WTG asset (OTDR) DAC testing
- Deliver all “As Built” documentation. (IAuditor)
- Moray West 66kv 60 towers (NKT terms 270 completed) 2 OSP’s Pfisterer size 4 (42 terminations completed) Pre term testing and post term testing including IR,TDR,OTDR and DAC Testing
- Complete terminations of interconnector cable between OPS’s.
